Fairfield Church 11th November 2018

We had a really lovely service last week, Rev. Julian leading us in a simple communion and Rob leading our musical worship for the first time, ably accompanied by Julie on percussion.

This week we will be doing special questions around Remembrance Sunday that Liz has prepared and remembering the end of the First World War.  We will also be observing the one minute silence at 11 am, whilst we listen to a very special piece of music.

Our reading today is taken from Mark 12:38-44 and is about the Widow who have all she had.  A very fitting reading for the day as we remember those who gave all they had to give.

Mark 12:41-44 The Message (MSG)

41-44 Sitting across from the offering box, he was observing how the crowd tossed money in for the collection. Many of the rich were making large contributions. One poor widow came up and put in two small coins—a measly two cents. Jesus called his disciples over and said, “The truth is that this poor widow gave more to the collection than all the others put together. All the others gave what they’ll never miss; she gave extravagantly what she couldn’t afford—she gave her all.”
